Works by: Solid State Breakdance Collective
Pas De Baskets
Solid State's first choreographic work, Pas de Baskets, brought together the individual styles of fourteen dancers from street and contemporary dance backgrounds.  The dancer's solos highlight their skills and personalities, while the group sections demonstrate the power and versatility of these fierce female performers.  Pas de Baskets captured the essence and excitement of a nightclub experience, and is the piece that launched Solid State's career in the contemporary dance world.

Etch-A-Sketch
This creation is informed by the qualities of urban life. City dwelling asks the modern human to exist within the framework of grids, concrete walls, blaring lights and noise, which mark and shape our existence. Etchasketch incorporates abstract ideas of city landscapes and spatial patterns with each b-girl contributing her own personal style and interpretation. The dance consists of typical breakdance sequences and spectacular movements that draw the audience into the dance. Video, duos, solos and intricate group choreography are woven into an integrated whole sparked with theatrics and performed to live breakbeat DJ.

Happy New Year! 2007 was a great year for us, but it is starting to look like 2008 will be even bigger! This year Solid State will be performing across Canada once again, working with filmmaker Guillaume Paquin on a short film for Bravo!fact, and collaborating with the Montreal Chamber Music Festival on an innovative youth workshop series which will pair the high physicality of Breakdance with the timeless rhythms of classical music. More show and workshop dates will be listed soon, so please check back often!!!!
